The grapes pictured are Red Globe grapes which are large, have seeds and firm flesh. They can be consumed fresh, dried for raisins, and made into various grape juices. Because of their large size, they can also be used as ice cubes in beverages when frozen in water.

The leathery skin of a rambutan is red (rarely orange or yellow) and covered with soft, fleshy spines that resembles hairs, hence the name (rambut means hair in Malay). These spines, also known as "spinterns", contribute to the transpiration (release of water) of the fruit, which can affect the fruit's quality.

Pears can be green or yellow or sometimes red. The pear in the painting is an Anjou pear, known for its green color. These pears stay green, even when fully ripened. These are best eaten raw.
